We're Running #BHM Back, Dammit!

Updated: Mar 15, 2022

I don't recall a shit-show this bad during Black History month since 2019. You?

~L. Renee' Chubb

Look. I'm going to say what all of us are thinking. We're going to run Black History month back another 337 days, thanks to our non-allies constant barrage of microaggressions, blatant racism, and plain old punk-ass Jim Crow 2.0 in the south.

I know those of you following me, may be thinking, "Why the hell are you so mad Renee'?" I'll tell you why. (These are not listed in ANY particular order other than my "Auntie memory".

  • Whoopi got suspended for 2 weeks on the 1st day of Black History Month for less offensive statements than McCain's daughter.

  • Amir Locke was killed by the police in a no-knock warrant sleeping over a friend's house.

  • Michael Ortiz, killed by police. (Another mistaken taser incident).

  • Kim Potter gets 2 years, thanks to Judge Regina Chu, who had the white-adjacent audacity to try and offer up some tears for Kim Potter, and not Daunte Wright.

  • Darius Cooks AKA ”Darius Crooks”, is out here charging people $215 for $25 reheats that someone else cooked and doxing and threatening Black women on his platforms.

  • Candace Owens made me agree with her about the halftime show at the Super Bowl.

  • Ryan Paul made me Retweet him bc MSM found out he was distantly related to Judge Kentaji Brown.

  • Toni Morrison books banned in St. Louis

  • Kanye acts like Kim K is the only woman in the world.

  • We lost The Roc...to his white half.

  • We can't say "Gay" in Florida.

  • I heard a rumor that Jeannie Mai might be replacing Kandi Burris on #RHOA.

  • It was the 10 year anniversary of Trayvon Martin's death and the YTs were sharing Skittle memes all day.

  • African refugees can't escape the Ukraine conflict.

  • V. Putin, these last 7 days and finally…

  • Sade started wearing shoes again

I do not want to take away from the amazing things that DID happen for Black History/Herstory this month, but let's be honest. This doesn't feel like a celebration.

I know that WP go out of their way to be even more tone-deaf and obnoxious than usual in February, but this was different. It felt wrong from day one.

Here's the Proposal

There are so many amazing stories of Black history, it's hard to share them all in 28 days. We are not a monolith and our lives are not lived as a single experience. Most people aren't concerned with Black history beyond Slavery or Martin Luther King. Damn anything in between or after. You see it. I'm not speaking in tounges.

The bottom line is this. This dynamic can be changed. We can celebrate the remarkable and intertwined histories of all cultures, heritages, nationalities, and races, all year long. I hope my associates and allies will take the time to find out about Black history and make inquiries before February 2023. Ohio is, fortunately, home to a rich cultural history, check out some of the Black art that's here and our deep-rooted history in this state.

Congratulations Judge Kentaji Brown Jackson for making HERstory! You make every little and big Black girl so proud! You have my full support and I'm on their Twitter necks with any of the BS! (@BIHHeelsPodcast)

Until Next Year Fam...

Be kind to one another. Love one another. Stop killing each other. Stop twerking and pick up a book. Trade the Berkin for some land. Support our VP and call out the chaos agents. Protect your peace, Kings, and Queens. I love you.
